How SNOMED CT will be used
Key features of the clinical assessment that relate to health status, health behaviors, and management plan will be coded with SNOMED CT.
Why SNOMED CT will be used
In 2006 we selected the UK vendor, EMIS, in large part because they used the READ hierarchical coding set and were transforming to SNOMED CT. We wanted a robust coding system that could utilize codes for clinical findings. This has enhanced our ability to undertake clinical decision support as well as secondary data analysis to help with population level management plans.
