Terminology tools & services
Description
We provide terminology services to several healthcare organizations in the countries of Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay.
Scope
The scope of the terminology services offered includes: a thesaurus tailored to the local needs and jargon of the professionals who interact with the EHR, SNOMED CT as reference standard for interoperability and to implement CDSS, cross maps to ICD-9, ICD-10, LOINC, ICPC-2, ATC, creation of different types of refsets according to the needs of the organization, a drug composition service modeled after the UK’s dm+d model
How SNOMED CT will be used
We use SNOMED CT as the foundation to build an interface terminology, leaving SNOMED CT as the reference terminology. This way, SNOMED CT acts as a uniform back-end representation and our interface terminology adapts to the local needs of the institutions we serve.
Why SNOMED CT will be used
SNOMED CT is the most comprehensive clinical terminology, provides a semantic network with formal structured meanings, has an extendable model, it is widely adopted as an international standard, and it was designed with EHR implementations in mind.
