3M Health Information Systems, Inc., is a pioneer of healthcare terminology standardization since the year 1995, when the first version of the 3M Healthcare Data Dictionary (3M HDD) was published.

HDD is a concept-based healthcare terminology server that integrates several versions of various standard and local healthcare terminologies, including SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm, CPT, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, the ICD-10 code sets of various countries, and others.

In addition to terminologies, 3M HDD also supports multiple versions of value sets and map sets, and makes them available through a search/browse web interface, and a web services API. 3M HIS also provides terminology standardization, mapping, consulting and training services to help healthcare organizations and application vendors implement standard terminologies and follow terminology best practices.

Currently, the 3M HDD contains more than 3 million concepts, 20 million representations (names and codes) and 20 million relationships between the concepts. 3M terminologists have mapped several million concepts from various customers’ local terminologies in diagnosis, procedure, laboratory, pharmacy, microbiology, reimbursement and other domains to various standards terminologies including those named above.
