France
The French E-health Agency (ANS – Agence du Numérique en Santé) has been commissioned by the French Ministry of Health and Safety to represent, as National Release Centre (NRC), France in SNOMED International governance.
ANS is the reference public agency for development and deployment of e-health in France. This is achieved through 3 missions: (i) Regulate and promote e-health, (ii) support stakeholders’ initiatives, and (iii) conceive e-health national programs.
SNOMED International France membership is in line with the European dynamic to develop the European Health Data Space (EHDS). It also responds to the ambition of the “Ségur du numérique en santé” program, aiming to facilitate and secure health data exchange and to promote interoperability between information systems. In this context, SNOMED CT use case in France will be, at first, to standardise anatomy (imaging, vaccination site, …) and microbiology (biology report) data.
The French NRC takes part in the French Translation Collaboration Group to collaborate with other French-speaking countries in the creation of a Common French translation. This translation is then used by the Members in the group as a basis for their national translations.
