Cos'è il GPS?
Il GPS è un elenco gestito di identificatori univoci SNOMED CT esistenti, nomi completamente specificati (FSN), termini preferiti in inglese internazionale e flag di stato, resi disponibili gratuitamente per gli utenti.

Il GPS supporta la condivisione delle informazioni sanitarie del paziente codificate con SNOMED CT senza la necessità di una licenza SNOMED International.
Nota: il Global Patient Set esclude le relazioni e le gerarchie intrinseche di SNOMED CT; fondamentale per la natura di un'ontologia e la sua capacità di abilitare l'analisi dei dati clinici, il supporto decisionale, l'intelligenza artificiale, ecc.
A proposito del GPS
Il GPS è un meccanismo per promuovere la creazione di interoperabilità nei paesi meno maturi digitalmente, nonché uno strumento per supportare il viaggio dei cittadini e le loro informazioni attraverso le frontiere verso paesi non attualmente autorizzati a utilizzare SNOMED CT.
Per alcuni, il GPS fornisce un punto di partenza per Uso SNOMED CT. Per tutti,
il GPS può supportare il movimento dei cittadini con la certezza che sia disponibile una base di informazioni strutturate sui pazienti, quando più necessario.
