Què és el GPS?
El GPS és una llista gestionada d'identificadors únics SNOMED CT existents, noms completament especificats (FSN), termes preferits en anglès internacional i banderes d'estat, disponibles sense cap cost per als usuaris.

El GPS admet la compartició de la informació de salut del pacient codificada amb SNOMED CT sense necessitat d'una llicència SNOMED International.
Nota: El conjunt global de pacients exclou les relacions i jerarquies inherents a SNOMED CT; fonamental per a la naturalesa d'una ontologia i la seva capacitat per permetre l'anà lisi de dades clÃniques, suport a les decisions, intel·ligència artificial, etc.
Sobre el GPS
El GPS és un mecanisme per afavorir la creació d'interoperabilitat en països menys madurs digitalment, aixà com una eina per donar suport als viatges dels ciutadans i la seva informació a través de les fronteres a països que actualment no tenen llicència per utilitzar SNOMED CT.
Per a alguns, el GPS proporciona un punt de partida per Ús de SNOMED CT. Per a tots,
el GPS pot donar suport al moviment ciutadà amb la seguretat que hi ha una base d'informació estructurada del pacient disponible, quan més es necessiti.
