Fee exemptions
Fee exemptions may be applied for SNOMED CT deployments in non-Member territories. Low income country, development, qualifying research projects and humanitarian or charitable uses are among those available for fee exemption.
Low-income countries
Please refer to the SNOMED International Affiliate License and the World Bank Country Income Categories to determine if your country is designated as Band E.
Development licenses
Fee structure for Commercial Development
Please contact info@snomed.org if your non-Member country or organization is interested in obtaining a SNOMED CT development license.
Qualifying research projects
Offered strictly to encourage the use of SNOMED CT in non-commercial research that contributes to broadening our collective understanding and knowledge base. Research projects must not be intended for commercial end use.
To apply for a fee waiver, please write to info@snomed.org and send a formal, signed letter on official letterhead/stationery addressed to the SNOMED International CEO.
It should be signed by a representative of the university, research organization or other appropriate body, and contain the following information:

Description of the project

Names of the project leader and any other stakeholders involved

Project end date

Expected outcomes
Your application will be reviewed and if successful, a fee waiver agreement will be issued. You will be obliged to report your project progress, findings and any implementations on an annual basis.
All users of the product containing SNOMED CT, will be required to obtain a license. Any programs/material encoded with SNOMED CT will be deemed as SNOMED International's property.
Humanitarian or charitable use
Offered strictly to not for profit organizations who would like to use SNOMED CT non-commercially, for the betterment of people living in rural areas and/or poorer countries.
To apply for a fee waiver, please complete and sign this form and submit it to info@snomed.org.
Requested information includes:

The nature and scope of proposed SNOMED CT use.

The product/service in which SNOMED CT would be used.

The time frame for deployment.
-
The results you hope to achieve through this work.

Information about how you will monitor/evaluate progress.

Information about any fees you will charge to health professionals (or others) for the use of SNOMED CT or the product/service in which it is used.

Any other facts that you feel would be relevant for consideration.
Your application will be reviewed and, if successful, a public good agreement will be issued.
